Best Tradify alternatives in Australia: five compared

Tradify is a solid job management app. If the per-user bill, the plan you need for costing, or a gap in what it does has you looking around, these are the five worth a trial, checked against each company's own website.

In short

The best Tradify alternative depends on what you are moving away from. To stop paying per login, look at ServiceM8 (priced by jobs) or TrackYaTradie (one flat price per business). For a bigger field service system, AroFlo. For costing by stage on a crew of three or more, NextMinute. Fergus is the closest like-for-like swap.

We build TrackYaTradie, so read that entry knowing it. Moving off Tradify to us? The Tradify alternative switching guide has the detail, and TrackYaTradie vs Tradify is the head-to-head.

Why tradies look past Tradify

Start with what Tradify gets right. It was founded in 2013, it runs on desktop, tablet, iPhone and Android, it syncs with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks Online, and every plan has a 14-day free trial. For a lot of crews it does the job.

The reasons people shop around come from its own pricing page. Every plan is priced per user, per month, ex GST: Lite at $48, Pro at $52 and Plus at $62, plus a Custom tier for large teams. Costing and bill tracking and timesheets start on Pro, and reporting sits on Plus. So a crew that wants to know what each job cost is really comparing Pro, multiplied by every person who logs in, with GST on top.

None of that makes Tradify a bad choice. It means the right alternative depends on which of those things bothers you.

The alternatives, one by one

Best for, how it differs from Tradify, and what to watch for.

1. ServiceM8

Best for: call-out and service work, where a busy month means lots of small jobs.

How it differs: ServiceM8 charges by jobs per month, not per user, in Australian dollars including GST. There is a free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month, then Starter at $29 for 50 jobs and Growing at $79 for 150, with unlimited users on every paid plan. Its Job Costing add-on, on some plans, shows an estimated profit on each job, and it syncs with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks Online.

Watch for: a busy month can push you up a tier. On Android, ServiceM8's help centre now says the app has almost all the same functionality as the iOS app; Room Scan, 3D and AR measuring, diagram drawing and PDF fill-in stay on iPhone and iPad.

Head-to-head: TrackYaTradie vs ServiceM8.

2. Fergus

Best for: crews that want an established, workflow-driven system and are happy to pay per user.

How it differs: Fergus is the closest swap for Tradify. Its help centre says you pay per user, per month, and its Australian pricing page lists Essentials from $53 a month and Professional from $77, with cheaper timesheet-only users and an Enterprise option for more than 10 staff. Every job card carries a Cost Report that pulls each cost on the job into one list. The Fergus Go app is on iOS and Android, and Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks sync are on both plans. The trial is 14 days on Essentials with no credit card, and there are no lock-in contracts.

Watch for: it is still per-user pricing, so the bill grows with the crew, and the pricing page does not say whether its prices include GST. Head-to-head: TrackYaTradie vs Fergus.

3. AroFlo

Best for: bigger service businesses that need inventory, safety compliance and asset maintenance as well as jobs and invoices.

How it differs: AroFlo is the deeper system. Its features page covers quoting and estimating, scheduling, timesheets, job costing, inventory, WHS and OHS compliance, assets and maintenance, purchasing and reporting. It is headquartered in Melbourne, was founded by an Australian electrician, and is now part of the Simpro Group. The apps are on the App Store and Google Play and its integrations page lists Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon (re-checked 23 October 2026).

Watch for: the pricing page lists a starting price of $80 per user a month with a minimum of 3 users, on a sliding scale that drops as you add licences. There is no free trial listed: you book a demo. It also advertises a setup offer, so ask what setup costs before you sign. Head-to-head: TrackYaTradie vs AroFlo.

4. NextMinute

Best for: builders and project trades with three or more people who want costs tracked against the estimate by stage.

How it differs: NextMinute prices by crew-size band rather than per user: Tradie Growth from $199 a month for 3 to 9 users and Tradie Pro from $349 for 10 to 14 users, plus GST, with custom pricing above that. It says it shows actuals against the estimate by job or by stage as the work happens, and it connects with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks through two-way sync. Apps are on the App Store and Google Play.

Watch for: the published plans start at three users, so a sole trader should check with them first, and the free trial is 10 days with no card, shorter than the others here. Push a real job through it before the trial ends.

5. TrackYaTradie (ours)

Best for: sole traders and crews up to 25 doing project work who want to know whether each job is making money while it is still running.

How it differs: one flat price per business, set by the number of tradies, never per login: $35 a month for a sole trader and $79 for up to 3 (every plan is on the pricing page). Every job shows live profit as hours and supply costs land, with an alert when costs reach 85% of the invoice. Quotes, invoices with payment stages, crew hours and Xero sync are on every plan, on iPhone, Android and the web.

Watch for: it is deliberately lean. No inventory, fleet or compliance modules, no dispatch board for a dozen vans, and it syncs with Xero only, not MYOB or QuickBooks. It is also a younger product, with far fewer years on the clock than Tradify.

What a crew of 3 pays a month

Per-user prices only mean something once you multiply them by your headcount. Here is the list-price sum for an owner, a tradie and an apprentice who all log hours, using the plan each company needs for job costing where that matters.

App and planWorkingA month
Tradify Pro (costing starts here)3 x $52, ex GST$156 + GST
Fergus Essentials3 x from $53from $159
AroFlo3-user minimum x from $80from $240
NextMinute Tradie GrowthBand for 3 to 9 usersfrom $199 + GST
ServiceM8 Starter or GrowingSet by jobs a month, inc GST$29 (50 jobs) or $79 (150)
TrackYaTradie StarterFlat, up to 3 tradies$79

Checked 22 October 2026, list prices from each pricing page, no promotions. "From" means the company shows a starting price. Add-ons, setup fees and card fees are extra where they apply.

Price is half the decision. The other half is whether the app tells you, during the job, that the job is going wrong. Put a recent job through the job profit calculator to see what a live number would have shown you.

Tradify vs AroFlo

These two get compared a lot because both are well known here, but they are built for different businesses. The short version is below; the full comparison, with what a crew of 3 or 8 pays, is Tradify vs AroFlo.

Pick Tradify if you are a small crew that wants to be quoting and invoicing this week and can live with paying per user. Pick AroFlo if you run a service business with stock, safety paperwork and maintenance contracts, and you have the time for a demo and a proper setup. If neither fits because you mostly want to see the profit on each job, the other three above are worth a look.

How to choose in ten minutes

  1. Count the logins. Everyone who logs hours, apprentices included. That number decides whether per-user pricing hurts.
  2. Do the monthly sum for your crew, not the advertised starting price, and check whether it is ex or inc GST.
  3. List the phones. If the owner or the office is on Android, check the Android app does what you need.
  4. Check your books. On MYOB or QuickBooks, cross off anything that only syncs with Xero.
  5. Trial two at once and run the same real job through both. Keep the one you still open on a flat-out Tuesday.

Questions about Tradify alternatives

What is the best Tradify alternative in Australia?+

It depends on what you are leaving Tradify for. If it is the per-user bill, ServiceM8 prices by jobs a month with unlimited users on its paid plans, NextMinute prices by crew-size band, and TrackYaTradie is one flat price per business from $35 a month. If you need more depth, AroFlo adds inventory, compliance and asset maintenance. Fergus is the closest like-for-like swap, and it is also priced per user.

Is there a Tradify alternative that does not charge per user?+

Yes. On their own pricing pages, checked October 2026: ServiceM8 charges by jobs per month and its paid plans include unlimited users, NextMinute charges by crew-size band (3 to 9 users, then 10 to 14), and TrackYaTradie charges one flat price per business by the number of tradies. Fergus and AroFlo are per user, like Tradify.

How do Tradify and AroFlo compare?+

Tradify is the quicker start: per-user plans from $48 a month ex GST, apps on iPhone and Android, and a 14-day free trial. AroFlo is the bigger system: from $80 per user a month with a 3-user minimum, sold through a demo, with inventory, WHS compliance, assets and maintenance on top of jobs, quotes and invoices. Small crews usually fit Tradify; larger service businesses that need the extra modules fit AroFlo.

Which Tradify alternatives work with MYOB?+

Fergus, NextMinute and ServiceM8 all name MYOB on their own sites, as Tradify does. AroFlo's integrations page, re-checked 23 October 2026, lists MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon as well as Xero. TrackYaTradie syncs with Xero only, so if your books are on MYOB, one of the others will suit you better.
