What ServiceM8 does on Android now

ServiceM8's home page heading reads "Optimised for Apple, Now Available for Android", and its help centre spells out what that means. On an Android phone you can manage jobs, schedules, client messages, quotes, invoices and payments, schedule jobs at fixed times or in booking windows, and send PDF quotes and invoices. What each person can do depends on their staff permissions, as it does on iPhone.

The same article lists what is not available on Android:

• Room Scan capture, 3D viewing and AR measurement
• Drawing diagrams (photo mark-up does work)
• Editing or filling PDFs from attachment previews
• The full automatic and in-camera photo tagging of the iOS app
• Switching on Tap to Pay for the account (it has to be activated elsewhere first)

If your quoting depends on scanning a room or measuring in AR, or marking up PDF plans on site, those stay on iPhone and iPad. For most crews, the phone is no longer the deciding factor. The next two things are.

Where ServiceM8 and TrackYaTradie really differ

1. How you pay

ServiceM8 does not charge per user. Its paid plans include unlimited users and are priced by how many jobs you book each month. That suits a steady flow of call-outs, but a busy month can push you up a tier: go over your limit and you can keep working for another 7 days before ServiceM8 prompts you to upgrade. TrackYaTradie is priced by the number of tradies instead, one flat price for the crew, however many jobs you run.

2. What the app is built around

ServiceM8 is built around its dispatch board, where jobs are booked, scheduled to staff, quoted and invoiced. That is the right shape for call-out and service work. 3. One app on every phone

TrackYaTradie is the same app on Android and iPhone, so a mixed crew all see the same thing and the owner can run the business from whichever phone they carry. On ServiceM8 the gap is now small, but it is there: the features in the list above are iPhone and iPad only.

What a 3-person crew pays

Take a chippy with two on the tools: the owner, one qualified tradie and an apprentice, all on Android. Everyone needs to log hours, and the owner needs to see where every job sits.

ServiceM8 prices by job volume, not by user, so its figure depends on how many jobs you book each month. On its Australian pricing page, checked 22 October 2026, its cheapest paid plan, Starter, is $29 a month for 50 jobs a month, Growing is $79 a month for 150 jobs and Premium is $149 a month for 500 jobs, all in Australian dollars including GST with unlimited users. At 50 jobs a month or fewer, ServiceM8 is cheaper on price alone. On Growing or above, put the two figures side by side.

Price is only half the sum. Both apps now put the whole crew on Android. The difference is what the owner sees: on ServiceM8, a dispatch board of booked work; on TrackYaTradie, labour and supply costs landing against each job as they happen. Where ServiceM8 is the better pick

Be fair to it. ServiceM8 wins in four cases.

• Pure field service. If your work is call-outs, bookings and dispatch, a queue of short jobs each scheduled, driven to and invoiced, ServiceM8 was built for exactly that and its dispatch board is mature, now on Android as well as iPhone.
• Low job counts. Up to 50 jobs a month, its Starter plan costs less than a flat plan for a crew, and its free plan covers one user and 30 jobs.
• Add-ons and accounting choice. ServiceM8 offers add-ons such as its Advanced Reporting Pack, and syncs with MYOB and QuickBooks Online as well as Xero. TrackYaTradie syncs with Xero only.
• Track record. ServiceM8 has been around a long time and has a detailed help centre. TrackYaTradie is younger and founder-run: a real person replies fast, but there are fewer years on the clock.
